nnnDESCRIPTIONnIn preparation for Mardi Gras or any other event that deserves a mask, we will go over the basics of wetmolding to take a flat piece of leather and turn it into a 3 dimensional leather mask. This is an introduction to a technique of shaping leather to create a hardened shape that is used for not only masks, but cases, holsters, bags, and anything else that should maintain its shape.nnWe will have a few basic templates to base your design from and then form it to perfectly fit your face. Then you can go crazy dying, painting, bedazzling, and adorning your mask to suit how feel.nnNo previous experience with leather is needed as we will go over all the cutting and forming.nnThe $10 fee for the class covers everything to make the mask; leather, ribbon, dye or paint. If you want to be extra creative and add rhinestones or a life size pheasant to yours you'll need to supply the rhinestones and/or life size pheasant.

nnNot this coming Saturday, but the sixth of January, we'll have a Clean-up in the afternoon - let's say at 2 - and then that evening, we'll do a potluck and game night. This'll give members who can't show up on Tuesday nights a chance to attend a potluck.nnThe theme for the potluck will be "Foods with Vowels in their Names". Greg is bringing Skyline Chili Dip, which qualifies with several vowels. He might also bring a pistachio cake.nThe theme for the clean-up will be organization. Try and get stuff in its proper place, creating one if one doesn't exist.nThe theme for game night will be decided later. Bring any game you want. Even two- or three-person games are fine. Don't bring Monopoly. Monopoly destroys friendships.nnNon-members lurking on here? Show up for the game night/potluck. Meet Hive people.

Just in time for Halloween, the vacuum former created its first parts today for member Bill.nnnnBill was making a case for an old TI computer. It turned out awesome and Bill showed us some of the tricks for making a good vacuum formed part.n

Thanks to everyone that helped at the Cincinnati MiniMaker Faire 2017.nWe tossed some basketballs on Saturday and did many Learn to Solder lessons Saturday and Sunday.nnnnBecause of the rain on Sunday we did not setup the Trebuchets outside, we setup one to be balanced with a watermelon by the LTS booth. :)nThe teardown was interesting but we were able to disassemble both Trebuchets and fit them (and the LTS stuff) in our minivan. Since it was raining we elected to do the unload on Tuesday before the meeting.nnnnThanks again to everyone that helped out! I think it was a good time and we made some kids day a bit more special. (Especially the one that we made cry). ;)
